Our Associate Artist Programmes supports the next generation of professional dance makers and artists. You’ll see mid-career artists and practitioners from any genre or location. All who want to find time and space to grow their work and their practice.

The programme works to benefit, inform and add value to the participant’s practice and it is hoped that they will go on to become longer-term associates of Swindon Dance. Each artist or company receives financial support and access to the studio’s resources for two years. Applicants are invited from graduates, young practitioners and mid-career artists.

MEET OUR CURRENT ASSOCIATE ARTISTS

  • Second Hand Dance

    Second Hand Dance is a disabled-led dance company driven with care by Artistic Director Rosie Heafford and Executive Producer Claire Summerfield. Established in 2013, the company create touring shows and digital dance experiences for children and adults.

  • Sam Amos

    DESIGN DIRECTOR

    It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you Sam is a choreographer and filmmaker based in Bristol. Sam discovered dancing at the age of 9 - inspired by the freedom and expressive nature of Breaking. Sam has dedicated his time to developing a very distinct movement style for which he is known today.

  • Marie-Louise Flexer

    Marie - Louise Flexen is a highly creative individual who is passionate about delivering work of outstanding quality within the arts and wellbeing sectors. She offers over 25 years of experience in the expert field of dance and performance, with a specialism in collaboration and combined arts.

  • Petronella Weihahn

    Petronella was a member of the Swindon Dance Centre for Advanced Training. More information coming soon. Watch this space.

  • Orla Hardie

    Winner of our REVERSE PITCH event and also a winner of the South East Dance Brighton Fringe Bursary, where she presented SKUMO as part of the Brighton Fringe, a double act that delves into The Uncanny, that eerily familiar feeling. Orla will be presenting her finished piece from the Reverse Pitch in a Triple Bill at Swindon Dance November 2025.
