ANUSHA SUBRAMANYAM

Anusha is a Bharatanatyam dancer, and choreographer who performs and teaches. She is also a dance therapist and a somatic practitioner. Anusha is the artistic director of Beeja, a London based dance theatre company.

Over the last 20 years Beeja, has created performances for stage and alternative venues. In 2014 Beeja relocated to Croydon and has been dedicated to developing dance in the borough ever since.

The cultural landscape of Croydon has shifted dramatically in the last 5 years and Beeja has been a key factor in this change.

Beeja’s work begins with the body as the primary mode of expression and communication and the storing of memories and stories for inter-cultural dialogue. Movement vocabularies can foster exchange between large sections of the community that speak beyond linguistic and cultural differences.

“Swindon Dance has been a part of my own dance development when I first came to the UK in 1994. It feels a real privilege to be associated with the organisation. I look forward to finding ways to grow, develop my own practice and also contribute to Swindon in ways that would also be meaningful.”
